I had a portable power pack that died, so I took it apart and determined some of the 18650 cells were bad. After seeing which ones would still charge, I found that I had enough to make a smaller but just as useful battery bank.I should have measured a little more accurately, the spacing was off a bit, but close enough that a little trimming got it to fit within the battery holder frame. I used a cheap spot welder https://amzn.to/3EtqjIQ powered by a 16000 mAh LiPo battery I had and was able to tack the nickel strip to all the batteries quite nicely. Mind you, this is not for the faint of heart, or those with unsteady hands - spot welding batteries with this setup is risky business.
