I am so sad to see this series end. This was a beautiful ending to such a great series. Gemma shows that she loves her family and gives into her love for Alex. Alex figures out how to be strong for Gemma and they get close in this book. This warms my heart especially with all the angst around them. You have Penn making Liv a siren (BIG BIG MISTAKE), her after Daniel and wanting to kill Gemma. Thea wanting to break the curse but feeling guilt over not stopping Penn all those years ago and having the curse of the Siren put on them in the first place. Liv the nutty blood thirsty greedy and wanting power siren who acts like a child and wants everyone to pick up her mess because she feels they should be taking over the earth. Alex who loves Gemma and is trying to figure out life. Daniel who would do anything to protect Gemma and his love Harper even go as far as become a siren and lose Harper forever. Harper who is headstrong and loves Daniel but is very stubborn about some things. Marcy who is like comic relief and just has you wanting more of her.All the while they are trying to grow up and figure out not only their place in life but also their relationships, they are trying to stay alive and not get killed by Penn or LIv and at the same time figure out a way to break the curse. The one I really feel for is Daniel. Poor guy. He is so kindhearted and so loves Harper he is willing to give up his life for her and Gemma. Gemma is his best friend and he is so protective of her.As the battles ensue, Gemma becomes stronger as a person and sees with the help of Alex that love is a strong emotion and can help you accomplish the impossible.A book that has adventure, intrigue, fun and love. One that will have you wanting more and leaving you on the edge of your seat until the very end. Such a great book and series. A must read series. .

    Solid Conclusion

The "Watersong" series by Amanda Hocking probably won't win any awards for being unique to the genre. She failed to take any big risks in the conclusion but you know what, that is ok. Sometimes when readers have invested themselves into four novels in a series, they want a good happy ending where all the pieces fall perfectly together. "Elegy" is huge, huge installment. It could almost be two books since especially since the first three books were on the shorter side. Some of it could have been cut from the book. There was a lot of scenes where the characters went over and over the plot points again and again. However I loved that Marcy is more prominent in this book because of all the characters she has the most unique personality. The entire plot with Daniel and Penn was sickly fascinating and I was annoyed by how much I enjoyed it. That said I loved its resolution as well. Many readers have complained about Harper but I really like her. I think she is solid and has always had to take on more than she should have to. Gemma was a fine character too except she was just not believable as a sixteen year old. She sounded more mature and was in situations that a sixteen year old would likely not have been in even if you account for the whole supernatural siren curse aspect.Again the book ends fairly predictably but I still enjoy reading it and I enjoyed seeing the story come to its conclusion. The themes in the book were fun and I loved everything about the Sirens. I was glad Hocking's version didn't pretty the creatures up and let their violent aspects be brought to the forefront.

Great Series.... though ends a little stereotypically.

I started reading Wake a few months ago. I had loved the Trylle books by Amanda Hocking so I thought I would enjoy this series. (I'm so over vampires and werewolves that I have honestly avoided those series. ). Wake was great, but then I got distracted by life and only picked up on the second in the series about a week ago. Within that week I read through and finished the remaining three books in the Watersong series. The Greek connections and mythology that she used was really fun and since I finished reading the entire series, I think it's obvious I was hooked and couldn't put the books down. The main reason I wanted to review this particular story was because I just felt like the ending was so anticlimactic. Throughout the whole series everything was so built up to the ending... would they break the curse? would love survive? would they need to kill the sirens to end the curse? Would Gemma be a siren forever... Then we get to the big climax and I realized there was still a good few chapters left so what's going to happen? But I found it a little stereotypical and kind of boring. I almost wished for a cliffhanger or just something different.I loved the series and would highly recommend it, but I just wanted to share that I felt like the series ending was a little lacking.
