Yes, it is glass and the description and packaging says it’s suitable for hot tea. ITS GLASS OF COURSE ITS GOING TO BE HOT TO TOUCH. Even the box says to be careful. This glass is more suited for cold brewing and infusing fruit.Now the rant is over, the glass is beautiful. Well actually another thing to rant about...ITS GLASS OF COURSE ITS FRAGILE. Why would you use a glass jar for everyday travel??? This isn’t stainless steel. Seriously, stop leaving such dumb negative reviews because you all lack common sense. Yeesh.The glass has a beautiful iridescent sheen and a veneer bamboo wood lid. I would hand wash this only since some people have reported the veneer bubbling and peeling off. The strainer basket could be a little deeper but it’s not a huge deal. It’s nice that it comes with its own twist top strainer handle. I plan on using this strictly for cold brews, fruit water, or 1-2hr warm brewing. I’m the kind of person who is gentle with my things and I don’t often break stuff, so I felt like having a glass drinking bottle would not be a problem. After 2 weeks of use, the inside layer of glass separated from the outside making the bottle unusable & cracked. The seller graciously replaced the bottle immediately, no questions asked. The day after I had the replacement bottle, I accidentally knocked it over. It went from standing in the counter to laying on the counter (a very minor fall) and it shattered.
