Much like the author, Dr. Rice, I needed to wean my first at 18 months in order to return to fertility to get pregnant with a second. It was hard for me, or so I thought, until I tried to wean my second! Even though I had already weaned a toddler, I found this book extremely helpful in having a concrete plan. It also helped to ease my anxiety around weaning my almost-two-year old. We're not yet at the end of the 6-8 week plan, but we're almost there and both of us are doing well! I also loved the no-frills aspect of this book. With two young kids, I don't have much time to read, let alone sit down, but I was able to read very quickly. It had exactly what my toddler daughter and I needed :)

The book is $10 and 50 pages but the only relevant details are in the last 6 pages of the book.  The first 3 chapters until page 33 are about why you might not want to wean.  Then chapter 4 covers night weaning which we’ve already done.  I didn’t really feel like $10 was worth the last 6 pages of a book.  That said, the last 6 pages did have helpful suggestions.

As a first time mom, I was clueless on how to wean my toddler. This book was so much more helpful than all the vague information my friends and internet were giving me. The book is a quick read, which is helpful when you’re a busy mama! I’d definitely recommended this to any mama that can’t figure out how to go about weaning and wants to read someone’s successful weaning experience!
