In this example of a blanket mold, you will need to build up coats of LayTex to make your mold the proper thickness of about 1/4-inch. That will require adding 10 to 14-coats of LayTex allowing each coat to thoroughly dry before applying the next one. Once the rubber mold is completed you will need to apply plaster on top to firm it. A Completed Laytex Blanket Mold Picture above is the finished LayTex mold consisting of 12 coats of LayTex. LayTex is applied just as you would with paint coats. Liquid latex requires expose to air to cure. So, you must wait for each coat to dry before applying the next coat or the coat beneath will not properly cure and you will have soft spots in your mold.
