It prompted me to search out something that could help improve my skin’s texture, as well as deal with age-related hyperpigmentation and the occasional breakouts – a few big asks. I came across two Paula’s Choice products (the skin perfecting 2% liquid exfoliant, and the 10% azelaic acid booster) which had good reviews – I read many – and plenty of before/after evidence. I know you generally need to use products regularly before you can expect to see a visible difference but I’m already seeing a result after only a few days. You use both products on cleansed skin (I’ve been using Eucerin’s dermo-purifier oil control triple effect cleansing gel, which contains salicylic acid, it’s available from Boots). Consistency is key here and I’ve been using these two products morning and night. My skin is a lot smoother and is already visibly clearer, with the latest breakout is fading. I’m excited about how it will improve my skin longer term when used regularly. As I get older, I realise I’m going to have to take better care of my skin, and in a different way to when I was in my 20s. You can feel your skin tingling when the booster serum is applied, so if you have sensitive skin, maybe use less and be cautious until you see how it affects you personally.
