Dermatologist recommended 10% Benzoyl Peroxide for husbands back for slight breakout I never thought twice about and it cleared right up. (no it wasn't overnight, or even the single month the Dermatologist thought, but we kept at it until it happened and it did). Key is consistency. So I went to see the same Dermatologist realizing something could be done for a face/back breakout so severe it was hard to go grocery shopping for a few months. The prescription product he prescribed first made things worse on my ever so sensitive skin so after a month his office decided it was causing more 'just under the skin' acne that wouldn't come to a head and Dermatologist recommended switching to a more gentle 10% Benzoyl Peroxide DAILY use for about a minute in the shower (along with 3 months of antibiotics & out of pocket licensed & administered in Dermatologist office light therapy). It took consistent use, for quite some time, but finally the results appeared and stayed and stayed with consistent use. From what I understand it needs to either come to a head or be moved out via the lymph system and this product does that effectively so I patiently persist and after 6 months there is a night and day difference! CONSISTENCY CONSISTENCY CONSISTENCY! Now good complexion is maintained with only using 10% Benzoyl Peroxide wash consistently and an occasional 2% Benzoyl Peroxide lotion (not soap) to supplement it if the first signs of under the skin inflammation bumps are felt. I chose this brand cause the cost per ounce is cheaper than another. You have to look out for that on Am*z^n. The tab Low to High Price does NOT compare price per ounce! Often items that cost more appear on the first, second, third etc rows interspersed among cheaper things. Shoppers need to be savvy!It's kind of strange. Never really had any acne problem at all in my teens or twenties! I have no idea why it suddenly became problematic in my fifties but it did and after getting it under control, this maintains it effectively. I know from experience, at this season of life, for whatever reason, I can't miss a day using 10% Benzoyl Peroxide no matter what or it gets ahead of me...so I consistently create staying ahead of it. Some washes have had an awful formaldehyde-like scent but this one has a mild chlorine-like scent (as benzoyl peroxide typically has). I love the bottle it comes in; the pump design is perfect for use in the shower. I have really bad acne and 10% benzoyl is the only way I’ve been able to get it under control. While most washes I’ve tried have successfully controlled acne, some dry my skin too much - this one does not. It cleared my acne, but also tremendously faded my acne scars, which has been a very big problem for me. So if you have tough or semi-sensitive skin I definitely recommend!!!
