When I was still on Win 10 there was a second step to acknowledge devices on USB ports. **Q: can i use this to format a ps3 hard drive?** A: If you're going to use the hard drive on a PS3, you need to format it with the PS3 into its specific FAT32. It won't be readable by Windows 10. **Q: does this need a y cable for use with a wii u?** A: No. **Q: How can i separate hdd from this case?** A: The hard drive simply plugs into its connector. The back cover slides open with a push, in the direction of the arrow. There are no screwdrivers involved. So, you'd just slide the back cover open, pull the bare, 2.5" drive back from its connector, and it's separated. I first bought one of these when I purchased a 2.5 inch SATA SSD to replace the hard drive in my laptop computer. By using this enclosure I was quickly able to use Macrium Reflect to clone the original laptop hard drive, and then swap the SSD with the older HDD in the laptop.-With the convenience of these - Neeyer 2.5" Tool Free, Clear, USB 3.0 to SATA III, Hard Drive Enclosures - I have also switched away from using USB thumb drives. Instead, I now just buy 2.5 inch SSDs of various sizes on sale to use for data transfers. The performance difference between too slow USB thumb drives and 2.5 inch SATA SSDs is remarkable, and SSDs are just as easy to use as USB thumb drives with these enclosures for the SSDs.-When comparing with other similar enclosures, notice that some of the others have large capacitors in them, but the Neeyer enclosure seems to have a more sophisticated circuit board, without the large capacitors that are in other similar drive enclosures. Also, the subtle, not too large, Neeyer branding on these enclosures is very nice as well.-The - Neeyer 2.5" Tool Free, Clear, USB 3.0 to SATA III, Hard Drive Enclosure - is in my opinion the best available option among similar SSD enclosures available at amazon.com. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great enclosure for the price! *by F***K on Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2021* These things a pretty great for a cheap HDD enclosure, my only kinda gripe is that the LED is crazy bright! Well not enough to blind you but at night it’s definitely annoyingly bright to me. Not enough to not order more for my other old drives, just wanted to bring that up. My Aorus laptop is about 5-6 years old so I swapped out the HDD’s for SSD’s and now I can use the old HDD for whatever else I want. Read/write speeds are alright, but I was transferring data from a 5-6 year old HDD to a newer SSD so there are limitations to the hardware I was using. I can’t say for sure what the speed would be from SSD to SSD using this enclosure. I ordered another to swap out the HDD in a 2012 (I think) MacBook Pro to an SSD. There might’ve been people wondering if it works with Windows or Macs and I can say it does, both HDD’s came out of laptops. Overall I would buy this again for any HDD’s I come by, that’s just my personal preference nothing against this enclosure. For SSD’s I would personally get a black enclosure, that’s just how I would do it. I would definitely recommend this for an easy & cheap enclosure for HDD and SSD alike though.
