I had made a "right church, wrong pew" mistake: The grinding noise was due to lubricant failure but not in the fan- the culprit was the mirror flame rod motor; Hardened grease caused the plastic gear array inside the motor to start snapping the teeth off which resulted in the grinding noise. Even though it says it is a synchronous motor, I don't know why the speed is said to be 0.8-1 RPM. To me this means about 1 RPM. Not very accurate. Better to buy a new clock. **Q: can i change the shaft. My Christmas tree motor broke it has a longer shaft than this one?** A: Everything is a press fit. It would be near impossible to change the shaft. You would be better off attaching some type of extender shaft the the existing shaft. **Q: For use turning a small lazy susan. how much weight can it turn?** A: I tried the faster similar motor for lazy susan type turntable with a water pan but it was too fast for my application. I just purchased this slower motor so I’ll leave feedback after I have it installed **Q: can I put a speed control on this motor ? it is 8 rpm now I want 2 or 4 rpm** A: NO, you can't. It's RPM is fixed.
