I saw a bad review with a photo but the only way you can go wrong stencilling is to have too much paint and the wrong tools for the size of the stencil! A delicate stencil pattern like this needs delicate handling. I use finger daubers or make up sponge wedges. I load with paint then dab on my palette until the sponge is evenly coated with no excess paint then I dab the stencil gently holding it down around wherever I'm applying paint.
