Review: range said to be 20-30 feet (selectable) sensor to person, but RF range sensor to alarm is 1/2 mile - 5 Stars; no big problems since 2019 when I bought 2. I observed any problems with water penetration of units. The plastic did crack eventually at one screw hole. I think that the plastic is slowly deteriorating by UV from the sun; so I suppose ideally one would paint the plastic w/ UV stopper paint. But this is an unusually good consumer product, as it is faithful, the sensor is powered by solar, & the receiver can be powered either with 4 AA batteries or a supplied power supply (5 volt USB type). The same supplied power supply which gives intitial charge to the sensor unit, also will power the alarm units. After initially charging the sensor unit, the built in solar panel provides the rest of the powering for the sensor unit. When I bought this the separate receivers cost about $50, I decided to go ahead & by a 2nd transmitter/receiver combo; they don't list a sensor-transmitter with 2 receivers as a package unfortunately. I bought 2 morerecently & found that the sensor + alarm package was not that much more than buying a separate sensor. At first, I wanted one receiver for inside & one outside to scare off intruders. It would have been more convenient for me if they had included self-tapping sheet metal screws for installation, as what they provided proved not of high enough quality to penetrate easily a pre-drilled hole in a steel fence hollow rod. The first night I installed the sensor at about 2 feet off the ground , it went off apparently for sensing a cat. Then I changed location of the sensor-transmitter, putting it about 5 feet off the ground, and thus far (2 days) have had no known cat activations. The ability to set the transmitter for 4 different chimes lets you use multiple transmitters in different locations with only 1 receiver; the receiver playing the selected chime for the transmitter activated. I set one chime for Lone Ranger Theme (Wm Tell Overture, & the other for 1812 Overture, as they seemed louded & most attention getting). I set a sensor receiver about 4 feet insider my yard gate on the side fence to which the gate is attached, which is about 40 feet from my front door. I put it back a bit since I did not want passing cars to set off the alarm. Then I put the receiver inside my house, on the cross bar of a window, which window has a metal screen (which I did not remove). The alarm faithfully went off inside the house & I can hear it even in a back room of my house. It even reaches attic (like 2nd floor) towards the back of my house (about 36 feet from front of house, maybe 70-80 feet from the driveway sensor, which is down hill to street. So the range of the RF from sensor to alarm is really good for my purpose. I can now hear the alarms when I am in my study on 2nd floor at rear of my home. At the entrance of my driveway, 1812 overture is set off. As person walks up my driveway, Lone Ranger goes off. When they reach the gate of my inner perimeter fence, I get both alarms. So I get an idea as to where the visitor is. Now nobody needs to ring any door bell. Now it is hard for a delivery person to falsely say he came on Sunday with an desertcart delivery & nobody was home (when we were home). These great units remove the need for a door bell. Maybe I will set up an ooga horn to go off at night if somebody enters my castle grounds, but I don't think they make an ooga variety.
Review: eMacros HS-002 vs. Guardline GL2000 - I purchased two different driveway alarms with the idea of doing some comparative testing. This is my initial impression of the Guardline GL2000 and eMacros HS-002 Solar Driveway alarm and I will add to this after the units are in service for several months. Sensor Appearance: both have a similar appearance and seem to be made from the same brown hard plastic; both are made in China; both "eyes" are opaque white plastic and flash red when they sense moving heat. The Guardline settings are controlled by dip switches inside the unit, whereas the eMacros has a panel on the bottom covered by a silicone flap with switches for sensitivity (including off) and channel selection along with a microUSB charge port for initial setup. Sensor power: The eMacros has a solar panel (obviously) and an internal 18650 lithium battery and the Guardline requires 4 AA batteries. The batteries on the Guardline can only be changed by removing 4 small screws through the front (they supply a screwdriver for this) and changing in the field might be difficult without losing one. Depending on how often the batteries need to be replaced, I may just take the unit off it's post and change them on a bench. The need to change batteries was my main motivation for buying the eMacros unit, since it should be more maintenance free. Detectors: Both have volume controls, offer different tones, can pair with different sensors if you have more than one and have a place for optional back-up AA battery power. The Guardline receiver is larger and square and sits on a flat surface at an angle. The eMacros receiver is disk shaped and sits flat on a table or can be hung from a wall. The Guardline is powered by a DC adapter with a round jack and the eMacros with a microUSB type charger. Documentation: Both come with quick-start guides and instruction manuals that are well written. The Guardline owners manual is much more extensive and detailed which describes features that Guardline has that eMacros does not. For example the ability to control external devices when the sensor detects movement and the ability to pause detection for a preset period of time, which would be useful when there is a lot of activity around the sensor, like mowing the lawn. Initial impressions: Both units were up and running in minutes once I had charged or put batteries into them. They came factory paired to their receivers and did not interfere with each other. I found the default Guardline tone more pleasant that that on the eMacro, but both are sufficiently loud to be heard throughout our 3 story house. Initial Performance: I placed both sensor units on a post 12 feet from the centerline of our driveway and 375 feet from the living room where the receivers are placed. Before long, a delivery truck came down the drive and both alarms went off. Note that this is well within the reported range of the Guardline (500 feet) and the eMacro (1/2 mile). The installation of both of these units was a breeze and both worked as stated right out of the box. Stay tuned for my long term update to this posting...

## Questions & Answers

**Q: can you use two receivers with one sensor?**
A: I wanted a 2nd receiver, but I decided to buy the whole combo again, since the receivers were so expensive. I figured I may as well buy the combo . So I put up 2 sensor/transmitters & set them apart -- you probably need 7 feet between them for them to work separately. Then I set my 2 receivers for 2 different music clips. So a person enters the driveway & sets off alarm 1, then a few feet later, sets off alarm 2. But I have one receiver inside my house for me to hear & one outside for an intruder or visitor to hear.

**Q: Sensor is as good at night?**
A: Works well at night. I have one set up to let me know when pigs come in to rut up yard.

**Q: what does "install the sensor to low" mean?**
A: The sensor has an off, low and high setting. The high setting will allow the sensor to detect a car or person further away from the sensor than the low setting will allow according to the instructions. If I remember correctly the low setting has a range of approximately 20 feet and the high setting approximately 30 feet.

**Q: I hate "songs" on these types of alarms - does it have just a simple pleasant "ding dong" or "ding" or something like that or are all 4 songs?**
A: I remember thinking that I only liked 1 out of the 4 choices because I'm the same way as you. Just a simple beep or ding dong, but I believe at least 3 of them are kind of "crazy" (I'm not home to check right now)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hmmm
*by T***S on August 12, 2019*

Works as advertised. Could not be easier to set up, nothing to think about. The receiver is inside the house, in heavy woods, with no direct line of sight, approximately 400+ feet distant from the sending unit AND the receiver is located 12' BELOW the sending unit on the down side of a bluff. No issues. We tested it approximately 800+ feet away (other conditions the same) for 2 days so we knew whether or not to purchase another sending unit... worked flawlessly at that distance also! Senses deer, people and cars at 10' away mounted 42" off the ground (set to high sensitivity). Does not seem to detect people walking at more than 10' from the sending unit. Leaves of trees, bushes and tall grass moving in the wind does not set off an alert. Charged the remote sending unit once (<5 minutes) when we initially set it up and have not had to charge it since despite 2 rainy days and it being partly shaded from direct sun most of the day. In use night and day for 2 weeks now - I'll update this review if something significant changes. Additional thoughts; 1) Would prefer the receiver unit to be smaller, more portable shaped and weather proof so we could more easily carry it with us when we're walking or working on the back part of the 40 acre property. 2) Would prefer the receiver did not have such a large, bright and constantly on indicator light (under the "3" button-just indicates the unit is on). A tiny red LED near the on/off switch would work just fine. 3) Really needs an indicator LED to let a person know at a glance the sending unit is being received by the receiving unit. There is no way to know without 2 people, 1 of them having to walk out to the mounting location. Would prefer the reassurance at a glance, day or night, that the two devices were still connected. 4) Would prefer more attention-grabbing alert-like tones rather than the musical tones the receiver plays to announce. 5) A phone app would be great. 6) Would prefer the driveway alert not include the small screwdriver in the package. Most everyone that will install this themselves already has a screwdriver and if you're paying someone to install it for you the installer should bring their own tools. Deleting the screwdriver would save the earth from one more throw away and lower manufacturing cost that could be passed on to the consumer. Conclusion; This wireless driveway alert does what it says and does it well. My wife and I are very pleased by its functioning, would buy it again and recommend it. We have tried another driveway alert in the past and returned it after a few days - it failed to function at even 40' and was very troublesome to set up. 7/16/2021 Felt compelled to add this footnote. My original review is accurate. I have had the devices for several years now, they still work flawlessly! I will soon be purchasing another sending/sensing unit for a total of 3. Here's the addendum; This company shamelessly courted my positive review and promised me $25.00 for it. I provided an honest, and I feel, positive review. No compensation necessary. ... And the company never paid me as personally promised by the people who answer the phone when you call the company. Just so everyone on Amazon knows who they are dealing with on this product.
