The soap may move around a bit when you're trying to soap up your brush, but after a while it will end up sticking to the bottom of the bowl. **Q: where is it made?** A: The company itself is based out of Pinellas County Florida I believe (at least the phone number on their website is a local one) but this bowl itself is made 'for them' out of China - probably for cost reasons. It's a quality build, though small. I grate my pucks and use this as a soap container as it is really too small for lathering as I am a head AND face shaver and require more soap per lather... hope that helps. **Q: I see other products claim to keep the lather warm/hot while using -- does anyone know if this one does?** A: It is stainless steel - so if you put in hot water before you started the lather, the bowl could in theory, warm the lather. It isn't insulated. Only something insulated would truly keep something warm. Even my coffee mug doesn't keep my coffee warm for a long time, but long enough - so if you warmed it up the shaving bowl with hot water first and poured it out, I think it would likely serve to help warm the lather and keep it that way until you used it. I like the bowl for helping to get a LOT of lather. After a few YouTube tutorials on how to get thick and full lather this has become my favorite shaving soap bowl so far. Heat the bowl with hit water before use (and dry). ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great bowl for those new to wet shaving *by C***S on June 5, 2023* A buddy of mine convinced me to give wet shaving a try over the spray foam & plastic razors I've used for decades. I needed a bowl, or mug, for whipping up lather. This Viking bowl seemed to be a good deal for someone buying all the gear at once. After a month of use I have a good sense for what I'm doing now I think, so I think I can give my opinion on the bowl. Pros: Stainless steel bowl that will not rust. I doubt this bowl will harbor bacteria between shaves. Looks great on my vanity with Viking's brush/razor stand. The small diameter makes it easy to hold while whipping up soap into a good lather. Cons: The mirror smooth exterior can become very slippery while whipping lather. The bowl's sides are basically vertical, so the bowl is very narrow. This makes it easy for the soap to go over the side while making your lather, and that's when it gets slippery. This is where a mug's handle makes a big difference over a bowl. Overall though I quite like my first shave bowl. The small size is great on my small bath vanity, and I can get a good lather going in the bowl.
