## Questions & Answers

**Q: Do the bottoms come off when pick up the chair?**
A: We have not actually installed the feet. The diameter is too small for our chairs. But, I still have them to return. They screw into the bottom of the chair leg, then the cup that tilts fits over the ball. I don't think it is possible for them to come off when you pick up the chair. It looks like the two pieces fit quite snuggly.

**Q: Are these good for hardwood floors?**
A: I am not certain, my chairs are partially on an area rug under the table and partially on vinyl floor. They work great on both of those surfaces. They are much better than any other type I have tried.

**Q: Will they scratch wood or laminate floors? We've always used felt pads but they come off so these sound good if they don't scratch.**
A: The bottom is plastic so if it gets sand in it it will scratch. I put the felt pads on. The reason I purchased these was the legs flared so much the felt pads were 'squished' off. Now they sit flat to the floor.

**Q: If you pick up the chair, will the two pieces separate?**
A: I have found that the foot "part that touches the floor" will sometimes fall off or becomes unsnapped from the screwed in section attached to the chair leg. It seems that some of the feet are more loose than others. The feet just snap off from the base and this allows the feet to swivel. It's not too much of a problem as they just snap back in place, plus it's only a problem when a chair is picked up off the floor.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect for antique delicate chair legs! Match hardwood floor color.
*by R***N on 6 March 2016*

FINALLY!! I'd tried every other plastic chair leg glide, lint gathering felt pads, etc. on my kitchen chairs (spindly-legged 1920s stamped-back wooden chairs). Their two back legs are angled, which caused problems with every other types of glide. Felt pads fell off. I thought I'd found a solution with those glides that have circle-shaped metal rings that you hammer in. Supposedly those prevented the chair legs from splitting, a common problem with nail-on glides. However, those split my chair legs! The one thing they promised not to do. Heartbreaking on antique family chairs (fortunately I only put them on one chair). They split the straight and the angled chair legs...I have no idea why those are so well reviewed. Also, those circular hammer-on felt glides can't be used on angled legs. My back chair legs are only SLIGHLY angled, so I really thought I'd be fine. But even the slight angle made them not work at all, and split the back legs in several places. I later noticed the straight front legs were also split, just not as badly. Enter these swivel sliders -- and voilà! I just followed the brief directions, and they're great! I could tell immediately that they were going into the chairs without any problems, without any splits. My only suggestion is to drill a slightly smaller pilot hole than the 3/32 recommended...that seemed WAY too easy to drill the screw in, and the screw wasn't as tight as I'd like. I'd try one size smaller and see if that works first -- unless your chair's wood is extremely hard, you should be fine with a 5/64 bit pilot hole. The screws go in extremely easily (with a 3/32" bit), so be careful not to spin the screws around once they're tight. I did better only driving the screws in partway with a drill, and then switched to a hand screwdriver. You don't want to spin the screw once it's in, it'll make the hole bigger and the screws will loosen up quickly. (And don't forget to put the plastic "ball" onto the screw before screwing it on! I made that mistake once.) Once the "ball" is screwed on, the "cup" just pops onto it...and all is set! At first I was concerned, because the cup seemed a little tight, and didn't swivel around on the ball freely -- gravity didn't move it if I tilted the chair. But then I realized that this is a good thing -- once you put the chair on the floor, the glides get into the correct position, and then they don't swivel around. This is good, because they can't flip up on their side when the chair is moved and accidentally gouge the floor. They stay at just the exact angle that works best for your chair. At first they look so weird, because you just installed them and it's impossible to stop STARING AT THEM! But soon you don't even see them. It's just the change that makes them seem obvious at first...nobody else even noticed them! They don't pick up hair and lint like the felt pads, and now I can spill water near the table without needing to worry about whether my wooden chair legs are getting soaked and damaged (those felt pads hold a LOT of water!) One tip? If you have hardwood floors, buy the color that matches your FLOOR, not your chair. They blend in so much better that way. (Of course, if you have tile or another floor that doesn't match either color, then match the chair.) These seem like they'll last a long time, and then can be easily removed, since they're screwed on. I'm investing in buying an extra set, too, since if I accidentally break one, there's a good chance that it'll only be the base -- then I can just pop off and replace the "cup" and keep the "ball" screwed in place.
