## Description

Note: This is a first generation product. For the latest and most recommended treatment kit to stop thumb sucking, we recommend the TGuard AeroThumb, also sold on . It is redesigned to be more comfortable, and far more effective. Designed to be safe, fun, painless, and most of all, effective, TGuard ThumbGuard is guaranteed to stop thumb sucking by eliminating what makes it pleasurable: the suction that occurs when the child tries to suck his or her thumbs. This suction is the primary element responsible for pleasure and is the sole reason why children cannot help but prolong this harmful habit. In order to break the suction, the soft, flexible, non-toxic plastic tube creates a channel for air to flow; which breaks the suction without causing any pain or discomfort. By breaking the suction, you are breaking the habit, and ThumbGuard does this safely and easily within 30 days. No more messy nail polishes full of chemicals, or fabric-based solutions that your child can remove; try a gentle, non-intrusive approach that parents, pediatricians, and dentists have recommended for over 20 years: TGuard ThumbGuard.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Unsure whether to buy the small or medium, can't find the size chart anywhere. He is 4 and the diameter of his thumb is 16mm.**
A: I'd buy a smaller of the 2. That being said, if it's too big, it won't fit on the thumb and can easily be pried off. My 4 yr old slipped the hand me down from her 6 yr old sister right off time am time again like a game. If its a bit snuggle it will be easier to keep on and harder for the sneaky heathen to remove.

**Q: Is this for right hand or left hand??my son's sucking only his left thumb**
A: You can use it with either hand, my daughter used to suck her left thumb also.

**Q: my daughter is 4months old and she sucks her left thumb, what size is suitable for her?**
A: Hi Maha, The straps on the small size are adjustable to any size hand (4 and younger), so it can work. However, you should know that the tube itself is not adjustable; it is optimized for children ages 2-3. You can trim the tube if you'd like. Overall, it's possible, and should work if you would like to break the habit earlier. Kind regards, MED et al, Inc.

**Q: May I please know the exact measurements of size Small? (1) Height of cone, (2) top diameter of cone and (3) bottom diameter of cone.**
A: Cone is 1 1/2"top diameter is 1 1/2 centimetersBottom diameter is 2 1/4 centimters

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This kit did an amazing job & worked wonders for our 16 mth old. Even our Dentist was impressed. 5 BIG STARS.
*by W***N on June 30, 2016*

After the dentist told us we needed to stop our 16 month old daughter from sucking on her thumb we checked into this product. Getting a child to stop thumb sucking is far easier said then done. But our daughters teeth, top and bottom, were already being affected and out of place. The Dentist noticed this when our daughter was with us when our 6 year old son had a dentist appointment. So I settled on this product. Full of apprehension and dread, (we actually had the thumb guard sitting around for 3 weeks after it arrived before we used it) we put it on our daughter's thumb. She sucked her thumb constantly, not just at bedtime or when she was sleepy. The first night was the hardest for us and for her. It breaks a parent's heart to see their little ones go through anything that might cause them pain or suffering or just anything that gives them discomfort and she did cry quite a lot the very first night. She would put the thumb guard in her mouth but due to the way it's made didn't give her the satisfaction of sucking her thumb because she wasn't able to get any sealing action around her thumb. We just let her try and didn't do anything to stop her from checking out this guard. The second night was completely different than the first night thankfully. Each night was easier than the previous nights. In fact after just 7 days we could tell a huge improvement in her teeth and they actually started to move back in place after just a week. Which we thought was pretty cool. Also sometimes her thumb would come "out" of the little clear plastic thing where her thumb was inserted. But instead of trying to suck her thumb she would try to put her thumb back inside the plastic holder. Which was actually kind of cute.It stated in the instructions that they needed to wear this for 30 days straight in order to break them of the oral fixation that thumb suckers have. I can tell you it didn't take us 30 days even though we held out for almost 30 days, making it 27 days. The reason we stopped early was because when we would take it off she would cry and cry and want it back on her thumb. Almost like a little toy. We thought this was cute and certainly a good sign. But on the 27th day we noticed she had a callous forming on her thumb from rubbing on the inside of the thumb guard. We also noticed that it had chafed the top of her hand where the straps were slightly tight on her little hand. So we ended the treatment after 27 days. She was upset for about half an hour that we took it away. But has not sucked her thumb at all since before we tried this treatment. She's had it off now for almost 3 months and I have to tell you that this little gadget worked perfectly. Her teeth have gone back to their original position that they were supposed to be in and you can't tell at all that she sucked her thumb for 16 months. Her little smile is beautiful, she's a happy baby and this had no negative effects on her.More likely it affected us more just because we were scared to try it. But thankfully it worked out great and we, (my wife and myself), would have NO apprehension, referring someone to buy this wonderful little treatment kit. It did it's job better than expected. My advice to parents that are going through this just like us, is to just go for it and try it. If it works half as good for your child as it did for us, you would be more than pleased. That's why I'm taking the time to do this review properly and to help alleviate any apprehension, you, as parents, might have. It DOES work and they will stop their thumb sucking, much to a parents relief. I give this Treatment Kit 5 stars all the way around. Did it's job, is made sturdy and safe and I think the younger they are the better it would work as well as getting their teeth to align correctly and not having any lasting affects on their teeth. Like I mentioned we noticed a remarkable difference in her teeth after just one week. Pretty amazing if you think about it. So don't wait till they're 4 or 5 years old. Just go for it and get it out of the way when they are much younger. You'll be glad you did. Good Luck! One thing you will notice is that no matter where we went, we had people coming up to us asking what happened to our daughter's hand/thumb. We would always have to explain to them that she was not injured and that we were giving her a treatment to try and prevent her from sucking on her thumb as it was having an adverse affect on her teeth and her teeth were becoming out of alignment. Most people would give us a weird look. Kind of like "REALLY". But it's your child and you want what's best for them. So no one else's opinion should matter. But they did think we were strange for putting our daughter through all this. But if we didn't we would surely have had to pay $6,000 plus dollars in braces in the future and our daughter could have still been sucking her thumb at 16 years of age and even affecting her speech. So we did the right thing and my wife and I and even our little daughter have not given it another thought. All worked out GREAT. This really is worth every penny the manufacturer charged. We also liked the fact that it was "Made In The USA".

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worked with modifications and frequent night checks
*by T***E on July 2, 2016*

We decided to use this with our 19 month old after she willingly gave up thumb sucking on her own all except for at night with just a little prompting. She had always been a righty, and I felt sure she wouldn't switch sides, and sure enough she did, so we quickly ordered a second. After we bought the second, we caught her sucking on an index finger a few times and talked to her about it. Thankfully it didn't seem to be part of her "habit" and she was able to control it with a few reminders and us reminding her about the star sticker she would get in the morning. She loved the stickers that came with, and at her age, that was reward enough as she wouldn't understand working toward a larger goal like the instructions suggest. The first few days I did end up checking on her frequently and not getting good sleep in order to make sure the guards stayed on and she wasn't putting other fingers in her mouth. It took a few adjustments to find the right size where it seemed to stay on and not leave marks on her. After about a week, I also noticed the bracelets were rubbing her skin so that it was red and dry on her wrists. We resolved this by putting socks with a hole for the thumb over her hands and under the guards. We used this for the full 30 days and over a week after, I have not seen her try to suck her thumb once. A few other cautions though...She did figure out later in the month how to stretch the device just right to get her thumb out. I suspect that this was more of a cool trick for her and the habit was really already broken since I never caught her sucking. We would remind her to keep her thumbs in if she wanted her star sticker. If she had figured this trick out sooner, the guards likely would have been useless then because any tighter and they actually cut into her hands. Last, toward the end of the month, one guard actually became damaged ripping through one side of a slot above where locked it, making it fit more loosely. Not sure what caused the damage as my daughter was only wearing them alone in bed.All in all, we were happy with the device because it seems to have has done its job, however, it was far from perfect. That being said, I don't know what else would have done the trick. I am glad that we did this with our daughter being so young so she didn't try to outsmart the device sooner.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great thumb guard, really works! - Drilled holes for ventilation.
*by L***T on June 16, 2016*

My 3 year old has been sucking her thumb since she was 6 weeks old. It's been very difficult using positive (and negative) reinforcement to get her to stop. At this point it is a subconscious reflex to thumb suck. On and off for a few months, I used homemade cloth thumb guards that I made with my sewing machine, but they were always getting wet and dirty. My husband and I were almost at the point of going to the orthodontist for a special metal appliance to get her to stop when I decided to get the TGuard as a last resort. IT HAS BEEN WONDERFUL. My daughter is excited to stop sucking her thumb and she doesn't try to pry off the thumb guard like she did with the cloth ones.Pros: Stays on! (I bought a size smaller based on other parents' reviews. Mine is size SMALL for a 3 year old.) Can withstand the elements: beach sand, dirt, water, food, etc. My daughter has not tried to suck her thumb since it has been on. SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS.Cons: Needs more ventilation. (I drilled tiny holes on the inside of the thumb guard to prevent sweating and this has worked like a charm.)The guard can rub a little causing minor skin irritation where the two overlapping wrist straps touch the skin. I used waterproof bandaids on this area and haven't had an issue since the skin has healed.I highly recommend this product to any parent who wants to get their child to stop thumb sucking and your child is willing to tackle the challenge with you.
