Been working great for dissolved iron issues for years now. This might work better for me than the "average bear" because I can tell right away from my water when my softener is slightly fouled, I put a half cup of ResCare on top of the salt, run the water softener regeneration cycle, then add another 1/2 cup so it's there the next time the softener regenerates. I do this every 3 to 4 weeks, also use the "iron out" water softener salt. **Q: Exactly how long should the plastic tube be into the brine well. Not including the wick?** A: I allow mine to go into the stand pipe as far as it wants to. Mine has operated iin this fashion for more than a decade with no problem! Best of luck to you. I also had to heat from the outlet of the dispenser to get it fit the brine well..It's a great idea, and surprisingly the wick system works well as advertised.
