Which in turn would then get onto my brake pads. I am now using the squeeze bottle. It is much easier to apply the oil directly on my chain without getting it on other areas of the bike. Just apply some drips on the chain then wipe hard with a rag or shop towel. Rotate the chain and repeat. Wipe down and clean the buildup off the jockey rollers (plastic). Then just before your ride apply again but do not wipe as hard. Start out your ride by changing through all of your gears. This will do a good job of lubricating the gears. Of course, if your chain, gears and all are quite dirty or have build-up, you should clean them first. I find that I now mainly ride on paved trails and street, I don't have as much dirt build up. It will remain on the chain even after some water gets on it as oil repels water. Dry lube is different. To use dry lube first you must clean the chain. Then apply dry lube. Dry lube does not last as long and does not resist water But it also does not attract dirt lie oil does. If you clean the cain every 100 miles or every week and there is no rain, dry lube is good. This 1-step is for those wanting to get the job done and not mess with their chain so often. Most cyclists would have 2 or 4 different kinds of chain lube and use one when they are in a hurry (this one is good for that) and another for when they have 30 minutes or an hour to do a full de-grease and tooth-brush cleaning and lube. **Q: How do you use this? I’m new to bikes** A: Put your bike in a stand so you can spin backwards. Protect the floor(you are going to be dripping dirty oil).
