It was super important to me that I find a pair of cutters that I could get a clean Cut with on THE TIP OF THE CUTTERS. I mainly wanted these to be able to cut my handmade jump rings better then my old cheapy pair did. Yes they cut my jump rings a lot better then any other cheapo cutters I had, BUT the jump rings are still imperfect. I will use them in a pinch, but I do have to file each end a little, because they leave it a little bit jagged for a good jump ring. I've learned that I just need to invest in a jewelers saw for jump ring making. Using them for other cutting on wire is good though. I promise this pair of cutters is the best you're going to find for this amount of money on Amazon. It doesn't cut perfectly flush, but it's straight enough I think. The main reason I needed these was to be able to cut nicely with the tip of the cutters, and they do the job good. I've cut these gauges and wires with no problem at all. Soft flex medium, 30 gauge, 28 gauge, 26 gauge, 24 gauge, 22 gauge, 21 gauge, 20 gauge, 18 gauge, 16 gauge. For a long time there, I didn't cut anything thicker then 16 gauge wire. After some time, I got lazy, and started cutting 14 gauge, and it didn't take long before the cutters started to not cut so nicely on the tip. So my advice to you is to not use these cutters for anything thicker then 16 gauge wire. I will absolutely order these again. Only this time I won't cut 14 gauge or thicker, because it made a big difference in how they cut after I got lazy with them.
