They are high quality plastic, maybe just as high quality as the Canon lens cap plastic and they fit just as intended. They are very sturdy, and I really don't think I have to worry about them cracking or anything if tapped in any way. They also don't look cheap being just about indistinguishable in texture from the Canon lens cap as well.
