When I removed the tape, there was an epoxy "ridge" which I tried to cut off, but then realized I was going to need to sand it off. This varies pack fit my sanding block and allowed me to gradually work up to the much finer grits until the ridge was gone and the scratches were minimal, allowing me to add a thin layer of epoxy (which I let run over the sides this time) to cover all of the remaining tiny scratch marks.
