## Overview

The North American Rescue BOA Constricting IV Band is a cutting-edge medical tool designed to optimize peripheral IV access through a patented rolling action that distends veins while maintaining arterial flow. Featuring a Quick Click connector and two-finger Quick Release, it eliminates the need for tying, enabling faster, more efficient IV placement. Packaged vacuum-sealed for sanitation and durability, this single-use band is trusted by military and first responders for trauma, combat, and diabetic wound care scenarios.

## Description

When tasked with improving peripheral IV access, North American Rescue engineers addressed both aspects of the challenge—how the product would work, and how easy it would be to work with. They met the challenge (and then some) with the BOA Constricting Band, a now-critical component of successful IV cannulation. How it works is revolutionary. Not since constricting bands were first conceived has the design been so fundamentally altered as it has been with the BOA. For improved central venous access every time, the BOA uses a rolling action to transfuse venous blood to the distal veins while still allowing arterial flow. (For maximum effect, the BOA is placed as high up on the extremity as allowable.) This technique distends the veins to make IV access quicker and more effective even in the most challenging patients. How easy it is to work with is also revolutionary. The BOA’s patented design features a Quick Click connector and two-finger Quick Release for added efficiency. No longer do healthcare professionals need to tie (and often re-tie) a constricting band. The BOA decreases “time on task” for treating combat casualties, civilian trauma patients, or medical patients with poor vascular access (for example, diabetic wound care). Originally designed for our Armed Forces, the BOA is now available to all First Responders.

Review: Very effective!!! - These tourniquets have been fantastic! Simple to use, and very effective. I use them on approximately 90% of my customers, simply because they are so quick and easy to use, and they are very efficient as a tourniquet. They are tight, and a few customers will tell you that they are too tight and they prefer a different tourniquet. I purchased both the standard and the extra large, just so I have options at the bedside and can choose the appropriate size for that particular patient. Also, this particular tourniquet has the ability to allow you to roll it down the patient’s arm toward the wrist and thereby concentrating the blood into the lower arm if you need to use a hand or wrist for an IV. It is versatile in that manner.I would absolutely purchase this product again. I am very happy with it!!
Review: The Better Option - It is very effective in providing great options for IV establishment and also gives makes certain options appear that you didn't even know were there in the beginning. The BOA Band is MUCH better than a regular IV tourniquet and is much easier to place and remove with its quick release button in comparison to tying the regular tourniquet, and sometimes having to tie it again to get it right. The BOA Band will pinch the skin very easily if you aren't careful and ensure you lift it up a little more when connecting the ends of the band during placement. The BOA Band is also much tighter around the arm and patients often complain about it but I explain it'll only be temporary and it'll help establishing an IV quicker with less "fishing" around and they usually calm down about it. That being said, this band will also cause you to more easily blow a vein on the wrong person, so be aware that this isn't always the best option for every patient. I know there is a BOA XL, but on larger patients I have been placing this on the upper forearm and rolling it down for IV establishment in the hand/wrist and haven't had any issues with it, therefore I haven't had any necessity thus far for an XL band. Overall this has helped me very much and I highly recommend it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product

Great value for the money. I disinfect and use it multiple time for hard sticks. Every medic should carry one. It’s small enough and light enough to easily fit in your pocket.
