At 500 lumens (full power) it is bright enough. Yeah we would all like 1000+ but here we are at 500. It's enough. I have been really impressed at how stable the light is. It doesn't seem to bounce around and be distracting to your night vision. The light is a NON-adjustable wide flood. It is very easy to carry a second battery for back up power and is an easy change on the fly.
