The housing and leads are well constructed. I mounted this inside my basement to avoid having it exposed to the elements. I use this particular one to run two sets of low-voltage lights with 32 bulbs. This wattage transformer is overkill for this lighting application, but my primary concern was not having a transformer get too hot. With this usage, the box barely gets warm mounted in my basement. I have a total of 4 of these transformers controlling other landscaping lighting zones and am happy with them as well. Hopefully longevity wise they will last a while.I recently added low-voltage lighting around the house and patio, and was immediately struck by the fact that there are no low-voltage lighting transformers that are smart home/device compatible. As the rest of my house lighting is controlled through smart apps, I wanted my low-voltage lights to be as well.
