The smell is very relaxing. Just putting it in the bathroom, I do not need any other air freshener. The bar comes in a good size. The package is so cute that I would like to save the wrapping paper for my daughter's school work some day. The soap is high quality. It cleans well and moisturize my skin at the same time. I just couldn't find a natural bar soap like this before. It was either too dry or too creamy that it didn't clean well. My skin feels smooth after using it. It also would be a perfect gift if you don't know what to give someone on her birthday. I'll be happy to receive it anytime. And you (and any washcloth you use, if you do) will be a nice shade of gray after using the bar. But the charcoal does seem to give it a nice gentle abrasiveness that feels pretty good. I'm not convinced the other ingredients are going to live up to the "health" promises. It says "no fragrance" on the label, but it definitely has a unique smell that sticks around a while after using it. It does not, however, smell like harsh synthesized chemicals, so that's a plus. I can't tell any difference in skin health after using it for a bit. If anything, it leaves me itchy and red, which is probably not what they are going for at all!One of the recommendations for making the bar last as long as possible is drying it after use. Seriously. I've never heard of such a thing. But at this price, I'm treating it like a gold brick. As with any product, it isn't magical. I have to say that because recent breakouts made me desperate, abandon all reason, and start looking for a magical silver bullet product to cure my acne. I hoped it was charcoal soap. My skin improved a lot after using it for the first three weeks. But then I got another hormonal breakout so I'm back to being realistic again. Otherwise, this is truly a great bar of soap. It smells wonderful - a minty, lemongrass, astringent natural smell. I really like it and am very picky about scents. It's also *huge*! It lathers up beautifully but doesn't dissolve quickly. You should be aware that this is a black soap made of charcoal and could possibly stain white caulking. I brought this on a trip and although it never came close to leaving a stain on the wire rack that I store it on at home, when I set it down on my host's white bathtub edge it left black soap scum marks. It was just soap and it wiped right off of the porcelain, but I was really careful not to get it on the caulking so that it wouldn't stain.
