It is a warm fleece material that is very soft. The blanket comes inside the pillow. There is a zipper that you open to take the blanket out and put it back in. It's easily fit back inside too. The pillow has an opening on each side so you can put your hands inside and warm them up. The blanket is big enough to use as a throw for an adult or a regular blanket for a child. It’s bigger than I expected it to be. I got it for my 14 month old grandson and he loves it. The pillow is soft and cushiony and he likes to lay on it.
