A: It should be OK to use as the only gasket for the rear differential cover as it is recommended to be used in such fashion. I would not use it in conjunction with another gasket since it will increase the likelihood of leakage.

**Q: Will this work as a thread sealer for a rear end differential drain and filler plug?**
A: might work but permatex makes a better product for thread sealing #59214

**Q: Is it suitable to use this for a gasket around a part that is screwed into place.  For example an oil drain bolt or drain valve.**
A: Yes.   Do not plan to use it as permanent.  It will last for the duration the life of the oil or until you can get a regular bolt gasket.
