The only issue is the hole for the wood dogs. to better accommodate projects with dimension smaller than 12" x 12" I would suggest a third set of wood dogs holes down the center line of the vise. **Q: Will this slip over a 4 3/4 edge?** A: It's meant to 'slip over' a 1-1/4" edge. That said, I clamped the bottom piece to a worktop with a clamp which has worked very well. Note: That places the entire vise on top of my workbench, but it must be at an edge of the workbench for the clamp to be able to work. **Q: What is the distance O.C. between the guide rods on this vise? Also, what are the diameters of the guide rods and screw?** A: Hello! It is 8" on center. The diameter of the guide rails is 7/8" and diameter of screw is 20mm.
