The smoke lens is sitting too far down on the interior part and is interfering with being able to install the screw. It was even a bit hard to turn the lens into position on the lamp holder itself (to get the key-way to line up). I'm sure you can get it to attach but the risk of splitting the plastic by forcing the screw is too high. In fact, I purchased a similar item to replace ones I got on Ebay back when I got my bike bake in 2011. I was able to get them on back then with a fight but the stress caused the smoke lens to pop off randomly after a few years so I reinstalled the OEM lenses and have been using them ever since. I figured I'd give some Amazon ones a try while doing some other upgrades to my bike. The Ebay ones came in a blister pack packaged for retail. With this item, each lense was individually wrapped in an unsealed bag with the bag opening tucked into the bulb cavity and then a left and right pair were then packaged together in a sealed plastic bag. Both pairs were then wrapped a few times in a foam sheet and placed in a bubble mailer just big enough for the puff of foam.
