Review: Great taste, amount, delivery, source and brand! - I've ordered Ican canned cod livers and other cod livers many times before. Today's delivery was fast as advertised, and the liver in the 1st can is quite tasty and it's got a good amount of liver plus a little oil; just what I ordered and I like best, because the liver, when packed in its own oil is extra nutritious in the vitamins for which I'm buying the canned cod liver, (as opposed to liver packed in water or other oils.) I say I buy it for the nutrition, which is true, but I love the taste and texture so much that it's hard to stop at 1/2 can per day (and sometimes I don't stop, yet suffer no digestion issues.) I stop at 1/2 can, usually, because it's possible to get too much vitamin A, and I can't get blood tests all that often to be sure it's not gotten to toxic blood levels, so I just stick to 1/2 a can a day as much as I can! That's a good amount of D3. (Note: the can states how much D in it and this is important because cod don't always ingest enough D when their environment gets depleted of the foods they normally get D from! So do read the info on the can per each seller, as it's displayed online) Myself, I cannot get D3 from farmed fish because the synthetic D3 fed to farmed fish goes straight into me and the next morning it CAUSES severe whole body cramps (a synthetic vitamin D3 intolerance). Unfortunately, all cod liver oil I've ever checked on, has D3 ADDED to it! Sardines labeled "wild caught" must sometimes be caught near some farmed fish area, or the company lied. Nothing but synthetic D3 causes cramps in me at all. I like variety so want to find some truly wild sardines too but, until then, I'm left with wild caught salmon and canned cod livers as my best sources, so far. Not a bad thing, having salmon and cod livers forced on me when I enjoy them both so much! And this might help someone to know: the ican cod livers from this seller, supersellerUSA (although probably from other sellers, but I try to give reviews specifically for the exact product and seller for reasons obvious to those buying products online anywhere OR in stores)! It's important to be specific in reviews so they aren't used for other products (as we see in supposedly verified purchases that talk about hand cream when the item is a sweater, etc!) so specificity helps us in our attempts to get quality products. Aside from reviews specific in all ways to the product, the brand itself, when it's really from the brand, has a GREAT record and reputation for excellent cod livers so if you order ican from some seller but they aren't great livers, or are not exactly what you ordered, do let desertcart know for they are likely not truly ican. You can't return the product due to health regulations (which is GOOD bcuz I wouldn't want to be GETTING returned products either!) but for an occasional misrepresented product, desertcart has handled that issue very fairly for me. Meanwhile, I will definitely feel confident to order Ican wild caught Icelandic cod livers in their own oil, again, from suoersellersUSA on desertcart. These are really good and just what I wanted, including delivery! I hope all the details here are helpful to someone too and helps supersellersUSA continue to supple good products.
Review: Excellent! But may not be for everyone. - It is very soft, can spread like cream cheeze on bread. Strong odor and taste, similar to canned tuna. Very "fishy", may not be suitable for some people. Packed in oil, said to be "it's own", so I am assuming cod liver oil, not some cheap vegetable replacement oil. Loaded with good fats including Omega-3, and much vitamins A and D. Negligible carbs or fiber, protein the same as any other fish or meat. Use this for the Omega-3 and Vit A,D. No more than half can 3X/week max; you can get a toxic dose of Vit A,D with this. It is a healthy snack and supplement, not a main course meal. The fish come from Iceland, so it is sustainable and likely very good quality, not polluted. I have noticed improvement in skin, hair and eyes, as well as brain. I will buy this again, it is now part of my diet. Can be eaten out of the can as is - that is what I do, a little with any meal with fat, like dairy, egg, fish, meat. Don't throw out the oil ! , I pour it into my whipped (scrambled) eggs, adds a nice flavor as well as nutritional boost. Highly recommend this, if it is what you want.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I had one bent can, but the livers tasted great! however, i was a little nauseous later. what's the significance of bent cans?**
A: I doubt theres any issues from a dented can, probably damaged in transit.

Just a guess but you possibily got nauseous due to the high fat content if you ate the liver on its own. I always eat the cods liver mixed in with a veg soup or with mashed veg. Ive never had any issues, infact i always feel alert and super healthy a few hours after eating the cods livers.

**Q: What's the shelf life on an unopened can?**
A: Canned food is usually labeled with 5 years shelf life (from manufacture date). I believe the quality can last beyond the period.

**Q: Does the caloric value include all the oil in the box??? Or just the fat in the liver?**
A: Don’t know. But very fishy taste. I don’t like it

**Q: What is the nutritional value?**
A: You may not see the nutritional value on the can itself. If you google cod liver it will tell you.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cod Liver Pate - delicious and nutritious
*by A***W on July 22, 2026*

I have learned to enjoy Canned Cod Liver! Yes, it is highly regarded as nutritious with high amounts of Vitamins A and D along with Vitamin B12, healthy Omega 3 fats and more. I use it as an appetizer prior to a hardy meal it goes perfectly with a nice robust red wine... just spread it on buttered toast, add some finely chopped onions and enjoy! ... it might be an 'acquired taste' that I have learned to enjoy... and it's nutritional profile is a big plus!
