Under the bed storage containers do fit. If you need more height you could put it on risers. **Q: Can you put just the mattress on this frame without box spring?** A: No, not unless you put a piece of plywood on it first. It was an emergency & needed asap medically to be transported to anthr location & it was Very Heavy & long. In the end it seems to be a good purchase. Hasnt been used yet bcuz hospital bed in the end was changed & recommended by drs. However im a mature adult had no help & was able to assemble the frame easily "sitting in a chair " & with 1 tool! Was glad to see these type of frames are still produced i perfer these on wheels vs the new type of frames offered! The queen m/bx fit well except for a slight space i couldn't seem to push-in or adjust about a 1/2" on 2 side.
