Would expect both sides to absorb, not highly absorbant - but doesn't stick! **Q: are the pads individually wrapped?** A: yes, the ones I bought were individually wrapped. **Q: Expiration date?** A: These are individually wrapped gauze pads. I do not believe there is an expiration date. However, after a year or so they might start to yellow and I would not use them. **Q: are they 12 ply?** A: Curad does not state anything about 12-ply or how many layers are in this pad. This is a non-stick pad similar to Telfa. They are clean because each patch is sterile and are individually wrapped. The non adherent feature helps to remove easily without any pain. However it has to be padded with with a,wound dressing and secured firmly with tape to keep in position. The deal is just ok with around $11 for a 50 pack of 3" X 8" patches. These are good oneses i found in the market because of their Absorbency and softness.
