Review: Powerful & quiet. A good deal for a European vacuum. - After using the Emer Galileo for about a year, I can recommend it for its overall capability, design. Although not amazingly strong, it is powerful. I have found it is effective and easy to use on either floors or carpet with the switchable brush/floor air-driven "powerhead" (which is "powered" from the airflow, not electric power.) It has a very long cord, and quiet, at least if you don't turn up the power to maximum -- which is not often needed, in my experience. The main housing has a compartment for the tools, including a small dust brush, a wand, and a small air-powered brush for upholstery. The main unit, covered mostly in sturdy plastic, is not too heavy or bulky. The wand or suction tube also seems well-made from stainless steel with some plastic fittings, and the hose is touted as extra-long (but just long enough, in my opinion). I have rated the Galileo four instead of five stars for several minor issues: - The bag-compartment parts seem a bit flimsy. Two black plastic parts, the latch-release and the bag-holder, can easily pop out and be tricky to put back in place with the bag. (When removing the old bag, observe carefully how everything is arranged.) - For the first few months, a slight buzzing came from the motor when the power was turned to high, but after that it disappeared. - The instruction manual is very sketchy and doesn't give you much useful information, such as where to order bags. - Replacement parts are either unavailable or overpriced. I am looking for one of two small rubber wheels for the powerhead that has disappeared, although it doesn't impair the function. But I can't find just the wheels; a new powerhead and wand is sold Emer.usa for nearly twice the price as the original vacuum. (Maybe I should get another and use this one for spare parts....) - The only replacement bags now available seem to be half the size of the original Micropor Microfiltration bags that it came with. However, the original bags were slightly oversized for the compartment, so the ones being sold currently by Emer (5 for $13, free shipping) might be the correct size. Only they do not claim to be microfiltration, just "electrostatic filter" bags. At least they fit and seem to work fine. I will just have to change them more often. In spite of the above quibbles, especially for the low price of just $125, this is a fine vacuum that may be comparable to higher-priced ones that I have used from Electrolux, Panasonic, Kenmore. I also considered the Miele models, but the lowest-price one with a carpet powerhead is much higher. (A relative recently purchased a Miele and rates it highly but it cost over four times as much as my Emer.)
Review: Love it - What bags does it take? - I knew going in it wasn't targeted for heavy carpet use, but I'm in an apartment with not much of it. On bare floors, this thing can pull dirt into it from inches away from the attachment, it's unbelievable. Even on the carpet, it does a pretty decent job with the non-powered carpet attachment but the bare floor attachment works really well too. Only 2 issues to this point, my 11 year old son broke the metal extension stop, so keeping the long extension extended no requires real jamming it open, and subsequently having to tap it hard to collapse it for storage. I've taken it apart to try to fix it, but it appears he broke off a piece of it that "locks" it in place when extended. Second issue is that I can not for the life of me find replacement bags... I have the part number from the manufacturer, but searching for the part or model number online reveals no clues, except for the manual in pdf form. I'm down to 2 new bags and then I'm really going to be stuck. If anyone knows what bags these take, I'd really appreciate it.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What does it come with? Where can I get bags for it?**
A: I can not find bags for it. There is a website for Emer, but the bags were not available when I looked. It comes with hose, wand, floor, carpet and upholstery attachments. 2 extra bags come with it.

**Q: What parts are with the vaccum It does not show any parts on the screen**
A: I received a carpet head with a motorized roller, as well as a very nice brush head for wood floors. There are also some tiny crevice tools for furniture and stairs.

**Q: How long is the cord?**
A: 19 feet

**Q: Any rubbery feel to any parts on the outside? Any Latex on this? Wheels made of?**
A: All the parts, including the wheels, are hard, rigid plastic. I am no expert, but I don't think there is any latex material. The wheels on mine are definitely not rubber, or 'rubbery'. This is observation only, and not information from the manufacturer.

### ⭐⭐ Great until it died
*by I***G on September 26, 2014*

I have had this machine for 4.5 years. It worked great up till now with the exception that the power and cord return buttons started to stick, but now it's completely dead. I had expectations that this unit would last longer. Now it's very expensive landfill. Somewhat disappointed. Emer did offer to replace the body for $150 (and mentioned that the average unit lasts about 7 years which also seems short), but given the life of this unit and the fact that most of the accessories are cracked, I took a pass and went with a new Shark Upright since the reviews looked really good. Pros: Good power Great on bare floors Cons Not so great on carpet Power and cord return buttons stuck Furniture and crevice tool on the small side Expensive bags Relatively short life
