Great for broken ankle
After I broke my ankle and couldn't walk for 6 weeks, I had to get creative. Standing up without bumping my cast (which was also heavy and threw me off balance) was incredibly difficult and painful. It was nigh impossible to stand up off the couch one legged. But before I dropped $600 on a power lift recliner, I decided to try this gadget. HELLO! Problem solved for $50! I got the single arm so I could just plop it down next to me and use the arm of the couch as the other rail. I don't even bother with the couch cushions. Just stick one leg behind me and the other leg the other way on top of the cushions. It works! I just have to fold the little legs out and make sure the latch catches and voila! Saved myself hundreds of dollars. And it folds down in 2 seconds so I just keep it leaned up against the couch until I need it. Highly recommend for my purpose which was something to push against to be able to get up after ankle surgery.

Excellent stand assist product!
I bought this product after watching my Mother struggle to stand up from her couch. This stand assist is excellent. The item is light weight; it was super easy to adjust the height of the arms and the width of the back bar that goes under the removable bottom cusion of her couch. At the same time I bought this item, I bought another stand assist device that was about $15 less, which needed alot more assembly ( bolts, screws, allen wrench..) and its arms are not as sturdy & tend to bow out to the sides when standing. The arms on this stand assist device are very sturdy & solid under you as you push up to stand. The arms also have a soft foam sleeve around them for comfort & keeps you from touching thecold metal. This is the far superior product! It is important to note that the bottom cusions of couches or chairs need to be removable.I already plan to get another one.

Doesn’t work for couch or recliner without removable cushions
Item arrived on time no problem with delivery. Can’t give it 5 stars because this item has a design flaw. It doesn’t work for a couch/recliner without removable cushions. The pop outs that hold the legs that are supposed to go under the cushion in place only allow for 45 degree angles inward or outward. If they had an option to go straight, the legs could go down the sides of the seat. My step dad had to drill another hole and use pop rivets to hold the legs in place straight out and then it went down each side of the seat and it worked OK. It still sinks down when my Mom pushes on the handles to get up. It’s better than nothing- but wish the company would modify their design.

Worked well
I needed a portable bed assist rail for my mother that would be easy to install and didn’t need to be anchored like her one at home. I wasn’t sure how any portable one would be as sturdy as the one that is anchored to the bed. It arrived within a few days. The product didn’t need assembling. The arms easily fold flat. They are adjustable. Initially I was skeptical because the arms easily slide up and down. I used this on a bed that didn’t have a box spring: it had a bed frame with the wood slabs. It took some doing but I was able to position the arms on the wood slabs. Since the bed was a heavy mattress, it held the assist rail in place. My mom only weighs 110 pounds and this rail stayed in place to help her sit-up in bed and safely get out of bed. This is the first time we’ve used it and it worked well. I will update as time goes.

Almost good but doesn't quite hit the mark.
Bought this for an elderly relative for Christmas. They had trouble setting it up so I set it up for them. The longest width that the handles get just fit the couch cushion. It made the set up a little difficult as every time you'd get it just about where you need to be and put the cushion down it would separate. Finally got it to hold together. It was not as stable as I thought it would be but my relative does get up easier now that it's installed. I think if they had an extension bar for larger cushions it would go a long way for this product.

Game changer after back fracture
Got this for my mom after she got a compression fracture and I'd seen how painful it was for her to try to get up from the couch. We ended up splitting it into two parts and putting one between the couch cushions and one on the side of the bed - they were absolutely perfect. Incredibly lightweight but shockingly sturdy, and surprisingly we didn't really feel the bar through the cushions. We've kept them around far longer that was technically needed because they're just so darned convenient! Even the toddler who is learning to walk likes to have something to pull up onto.If splitting into two, I recommend turning one support arm each way for additional sturdiness (e.g. one under one cushion, one under the other if it's in the middle of the couch)

Insufficient information—no size information given and it’s necessary!
Seller makes it sound easy, but it has to fit behind seat cushion, which can’t be more than 19” deep. Mine are 21” (chair) and 28” deep (couch). The box doesn’t give any size information, and neither does the seller. Now I have wasted a lot of time on a gadget that isn’t going to work! Must return, even though I am handicapped (predictable buyer) and no longer drive and concerned (Civid) about going into a place where I will have to go to have it returned...If it wasn’t for Amazon’s UPS pickup arrangement, it would have taken time to get someone to take me. Not happy!

Excellent Product
My 91 year old Mother struggled to get up off the couch due to spinal cord injuries she had sustained. Rather than putplywood or some sort of insert under the cushion for additional support I decided to try this standing aid. Two bars go under the couch cushion providing extra support and she can use the arm of the couch and this very sturdy support to get herself up with minimal help now from me. No more pulling her up on one side while she tries to push herself up using the arm of the couch only. I was so happy with the first one I bought a second one and put it out on the couch on our patio. Highly recommend this product.
