The trouble is you can't heat the cup itself in a microwave. You must heat the water or milk in a separate container and then pour it into the mug. Granted, that's perfect for coffee and tea or even cold shakes. I have a very specific gripe so I'll still give it 3 stars. Just don't get this model for any recipes that require hot water then a power added unless you like doing multiple dishes. For Hot Chocolate I would recommend one where the battery mechanism is removable for you can microwave the actual mug.
