I heard that a few art museums are now using led lamps, and thought I should look into having the same set up they have. I tracked down the company, and found their lamps were about 16x the price each, and require their own special tracks.I often paint at night, and have found that not only don't I like the idea of fluorescents having mercury in them, but the light feels thin, no matter how bright it is. If I'm painting late, the colors can appear unacceptably different than daylight or halogen. I put in Philips 18w PAR38s (3000k). They were a lot better than fluorescent, but were too blue. I ended up using lighting gels to warm the color up to halogen-ish. Unfortunately, they were too narrowly focused and the bouncing light made my eyes feel tired over time even if I turned them down, and there was always a hot spot to mitigate.After a few trials of different bulbs, I found that 24W Eco-lites were the closest to what I want. They appear slightly dimmer than the Philips, but this is to be expected as the light is more diffuse over a larger area. These bulbs create a much more pleasing and gentle wash of light, more like the tone of halogens, and best of all I will not be fooling with gels to correct the color. I am very pleased and will be ordering more so I can swap out all the fluorescent lights from my studio, and probably all the halogens, too. They're also very cool looking when installed. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for stage lighting. *by T***X on Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2015* I replaced the incandescent bulbs in my Par 38 cans with these. Stage temperature dropped by 20 degrees, and we're still well lit. After a year of use, no issues. ### ⭐⭐⭐ OK *by R***C on Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2013* Seemed to be made well, but it didn't omit as much light as I thought it would.
