Perfect for full sun and moderate watering, these seeds require natural spring germination and bring ancient culinary and ornamental value to your garden. ## Description Rarely offered, this naturally occurring enormous variant of the Globe artichoke is native to the Mediterranean, where it was domesticated in ancient times. This giant is a true hardy perennial with silvery, thistle-like foliage, and tall flower stems, which are topped by fat thistle-like buds which resemble small globe artichokes in summer. Whilst the flower buds can be eaten in the same way as the artichoke, the stems which resemble large celery stalks, are usually eaten after being braised or steamed. With an artichoke-like flavour, they are also used as a vegetarian source of enzymes for cheese production. SOWING ADVICE: Sow immediately at any time onto preferably a soil-based compost, covering with fine grit to approximately their own depth. Germination MAY be quicker if kept at 15 to 20 degrees C. but many seeds WILL NOT come up the year they are sown, needing winter chilling after sowing, and ONLY come up with natural spring germination.Genuine Plant World Seeds branded packets supplied direct from Plant World Seeds UK! ## Features - Genuine Plant World Seeds branded packets supplied direct from Plant World Seeds UK! - Common Name: Artichoke thistle, cardone, cardoni, carduni or cardi, - Height: 1.5-2.5m - Approx.
