Review: Adore Me Some Adore—Fantasy Hair on a Budget with Indigo Blue Magic - Let me tell you: I’ve been on a personal journey through the rainbow, and Adore has been my trusty sidekick the whole way. I’ve been buying their fantasy colors off desertcart for a couple years now because a) I only dye my money piece, and b) I like to switch it up more than a toddler in a Halloween costume aisle. My most recent adventure? Indigo Blue. This shade is chef’s kiss if you want that deep, ocean-at-midnight vibe. It starts out looking like you stole pigment from Poseidon’s favorite cloak. It is semi-permanent, though, so don’t expect it to cling to your hair like your cat clings to the warm laundry. I got a solid couple of weeks before it started fading into a soft pastel seafoam vibe—not bad, just a different kind of cute. The fade is gentle, not patchy or weird, and it never made me look like I lost a battle with a Smurf. Now, let’s talk consistency. This dye is not watery like those runny nightmares from some other brands. It stays put, which is great when you’re trying to paint your hair, not your bathroom walls. Plus, each bottle is 4oz and you get two—a total steal for under $10 depending on the shade. That’s salon color price on a ramen noodle budget. Here’s my own Adore color lineup: Rich Eggplant, African Violet, Violet Gem, Purple Rage – All queens in their own purple way. Long-lasting, vibrant, and fade like a dreamy pastel. Neon Pink – WARNING: It's so neon you might start glowing like a Vegas sign under a blacklight. Not actually glow-in-the-dark, but close enough. Jet Black – Ehh... the one I wouldn’t recommend. Fades fast and gives a weird greenish cast. Use a true permanent black if you’re going dark-dark. Back to Indigo Blue—while it did fade faster than the purples, I still loved it. The blue washed out beautifully and didn’t stain my bathroom like an abstract art project gone wrong. Oh, and it’s vegan, cruelty-free, and free of ammonia, peroxide, and alcohol, so my money piece stays shiny and happy instead of fried and crunchy. In short: If you’re fantasy-dye curious, broke-ish, non-committal with color, or just a long-time color addict like me—Adore is the move.
Review: Great and affordable - As the daughter of a master cosmetologist I've been dying my hair since I was 14 (15+ years experience). I've tried them all, punky color, manic panic, artic fox, joico, splat and more. I've vetted every product through my licensed cosmetologist mother and never got any kick back due to harmful ingredients or other factors. That being said, this is my new favorite brand for fun semi permanent colors at a reasonable price. I've used it on myself and my daughter (see pictures for break down). I wanted to try several colors from this brand prior to reviewing so that it would reflect a bigger range as some colors will last longer or process differently. I wanted more of a neon green for my first color and the green apple was not dark/neon enough for me so I decided to mix a bit of emerald in to achieve the color I wanted since I did not see the exact color I wanted in the colors available. My base color was a BRASSY dark blonde and my daughters was a less brassy brighter blonde, so my original fear was the cooler color neutralizing the brass more than it showing through. The first dye (green apple) on my hair was not bad. The color was good. The first dye on my daughter's hair (emerald) did somewhat come out dull from the brassyness (did not take a picture) but after a few days, I did a second coat and it came out as pictured. Each time we dyed, I used a brush/bowl application method and let it process for 1+ hr (because I'm busy and forgetful). Here are my thoughts: Pros: didn't stain my skin an insane amount when I had accidental drippage, color lasts more than 2 weeks (4+ washes), mixes well if you want to adjust color, covers well and pretty even depending on your base and your application, affordable, large range of colors Cons: it takes a lot of washing to fade I love the range of colors to choose from and I love being able to mix them and not end up with something muddy. I also love that it is pretty long lasting compared to other popular semi permanent colors (look up dye vs dye on YouTube). The only caviot to that is if you like to change colors often, it may be harder depending on which direction you go on the color wheel or if you only want color for a short amount of time like vacation or leave from work, this may not work for you. It also did not stain my daughter's hair when we did the blue and make it a horrible shade of green that we were unable to cover. So all together, I really love this brand of dye and will continue to buy as need (a little goes a long way) but it may not suit everyone.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What does “semi-permanent” hair color mean?**
A: Semi-permanent hair color deposits vibrant pigments onto your hair without altering its natural structure. It adds color, shine, and richness while being gentle and conditioning.

**Q: How long does semi-permanent color last?**
A: Typically 3–6 weeks, depending on hair type, porosity, and washing habits. It gradually fades rather than growing out harshly.

**Q: How is semi-permanent different from demi-permanent hair color?**
A: Semi-Permanent: No ammonia or peroxide. Coats hair & fades with washes. Great for bold, fun, or subtle color shifts. Demi-Permanent: Low peroxide. Slightly penetrates the hair for longer wear. Great for blending, toning, & enhancing natural color.

**Q: Can I lighten my hair with semi-permanent color?**
A: No, semi-permanent color cannot lighten hair. It works best on your current base, or over pre-lightened hair for brighter, more vibrant results.

**Q: Can I mix shades to customize my color?**
A: Yes! Semi-permanent formulas are great for blending shades to create your perfect custom color.
