This has got to be some of the worst whole bean coffee I have ever had. I love coffee. I consider myself somewhat knowledgable. But I fell for the price for quantity trick here. The beans have a distinct odd odor and taste not associated with good coffee. It is almost rancid in flavor. There is no coffee flavor. There is no coffee aroma. These are not Arabica beans. They are terribly roasted Robusta beans. This company out of Brooklyn should be ashamed to call itself a coffee company. ### ⭐ Not the greatest *by S***R on Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2019* I wouldn't have rated this as badly if their customer service was better. I reached out to them to tell them I didn't really like it. Got an email saying that perhaps we got a bad bag of it. They would replace it with another or something else. I chose something else. No more response from them, no new coffee.The coffee had an odd flavor. I drink pretty much anything...and dark is my favorite. Not sure what was wrong. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not bad for espresso! *by C***Y on Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2019* I purchased this coffee because I'm looking for a decent tasting, inexpensive daily drinker, and this seemed like a good value; you get a lot for your money. I usually grind my beans fresh, and I brew my coffee via french press, or espresso machine.I use a coarse grind for french press, and I typically steep for 4 minutes. I wasn't really able to get much flavor out of this after trying different grind sizes and steep times. The coffee just tasted kind of weak and watery, and there wasn't really much flavor. Not impressed.I recently gave this a try using my espresso machine. To grind the beans, I used a Breville Smart Grinder Pro with the internal burrs set to 10 and the dial set to 15. This combination turned out to be perfect - my shot came out flavorful and medium-to-full bodied, without any bitterness, sourness, or other unpleasant flavors. I found that any coarser or finer would lead to a pretty nasty tasting shot, but this combination worked well for me and I'm pulling pretty enjoyable shots.Are there better tasting and higher quality coffees out there? Absolutely. This certainly isn't winning any taste awards and it isn't going to blow you away. That being said, you do get a lot of bean for your dollar and it's a pretty decent blend. If you're looking for a decent coffee to test out your espresso-making skills, this might be a good option.
