What about blanketweed too?** A: You would probably be better skimming the duckweed off with a net. It is an ongoing job I'm afraid. The vac could suck some of the blanketweed as long as your pond doesn't have many "obstacles" like rocks or pond plants etc. I have really only used it for removing (some) excess sludge from the bottom of the pond. After about a month the pond has gone completely clear for the first time in a few years so it has clearly done something to improve the ecology of the pond. It is not like vacuuming your living room though - you won't get a completely clean bottom unless it is literally just a cuboid with no nooks and crannies!
