This model comes with everything needed including a flexible exhaust hose and an easy-to-install window venting kit. The window vent can be removed when the unit is not in use.

Review: Noisy, but very effective for medium sized rooms - My wife and I ordered this at the beginning of summer for our fairly large bedroom. We often refer to this as one of the best purchases that we made this year. While this unit isn't quiet by any means, when paired with a good fan it can cool down a medium-to-large sized bedroom very quickly and keep you comfortable through any heat wave. BASICS TO KNOW - Uses a standard plug - Needs to vent out of a window using an included tube. The tube is ugly. - Does not require any draining or adding of water. - It's pretty big, like bigger than a mini fridge in height, but not as wide. - This is good for a room, not a whole house. THE GOOD - No draining! This thing is as plug and play as it gets. Unlike dehumidifiers or cooling fans that use ice, you don't need to fill or drain anything. - Works very quickly: Pretty much as soon as you start this thing up, it knows that it's game time. - Intuitive controls: It's simple to know what you're doing. - Timer: There are a few set intervals that you can select if you don't want your unit running all day. - Temperature controls: Instead of setting a Low/Medium/High, you choose a temperature that you want the room to be. It's kind of like the difference between a new car with climate control and a car built in the 1990s. - Remote control: We don't use it, but there is one if you really can't stand to walk over to the machine to turn it on. - Powerful for one room: Don't expect this thing to cool down your whole house, but it will take care of most rooms pretty well. If you have a grand living room with a high ceiling, that's a different story. If you have a relatively normal to large sized bedroom or living room and some fans, this thing will take care of you. - Reliable: We put this unit to work all Summer long and it never let us down. - Weight: It's heavy, but it's not unreasonably heavy. One person can set it up pretty easily. - Looks: With the exception of the really ugly venting tube, it's actually a pretty handsome unit. Think of it like a Lexus with a really ugly tail. THE BAD - Noise: This unit is not quiet at all. If you're watching TV, you are going to turn the volume up higher. It will annoy you if it is running while you're on the phone. You will not care about the noise because your room will be nice and cool. - Window insert: We made this work, but the window insert for the vent is made for windows that go "up and down" instead of "side to side." If you pull your window down to close it, then you're all set. If you pull your windows sideways to open and close them, you might have to be a little creative to get the insert to stay. - Venting tube: The venting tube is pretty ugly. It isn't discrete at all, but again, you probably won't care because your room is icy cold. If you care about aesthetics, the tube takes away from the otherwise handsome unit. - Taller than you think: The unit is a pretty substantial addition to any room.
Review: this air conditioner does exactly what it says it does and it does it very very well - i ordered my honeywell air conditioner during a brutally hot spell the last week of june when every day was in the nineties which is torture in seattle as we are not used to temperatures like that and got it at the beginning of july. it worked exactly as advertised, cooled my living room and dining room and with a powerful tower fan blowing in the cool air down the hall and into the bedrooms my roommates were able to be comfortable as long as they kept their bedroom doors open. the kitchen and my bedroom and bathroom were not close enough to be cooled down but i didn't expect one portable air conditioner to cool the whole house so i was very happy with the results. in the areas where people congregate the most we were able to be comfortable depending on how hot it got outside; more if it was mid seventies to mid eighties, less if it got hotter and into the nineties as of course the house would heat up correspondingly from outside. i live in a doublewide mobile home which does not have the insulation of a regular house so for one air conditioner to work so well is a major tribute to its cooling capability. also, if i started it early in the morning even though it wasn't at the time hot enough to need it, of course the house stayed cooler later on than if i waited till noon or so when it got unpleasantly warm inside. in seattle, we have summer rates for our power so it actually costs less to run an air conditioner than it does to run a heater in the winter as winter rates are nearly double so this unit was quite economic to operate even if i needed to run it for twelve hours a day for a month which is unheard of in seattle but this summer made history in the northwest both for record temperatures and how long they lasted. i can see how in places like arizona that get much hotter people could be disappointed by how small of an area it could cool or that it didn't cool strongly enough even though the specifications are clearly stated in the description, but for what i needed, this unit was perfect. if you live in a region that is hotter or have a big house, get a more powerful one or get two of these. just don't have unrealistic expectations and you won't be disappointed. it's easy to set up. i never emptied the drip pan till i put it away for the winter which keeps it from rusting as it sits and i didn't even bother to use the stripping that came with it for the window, just opened it enough for the hose to go out and that was that. there are no words for how much this saved summer for me as i was dreading each day before i broke down and bought it.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Window kit?**
A: Yes. It comes with an adaptor for both ends and a flex hose about the size of a clothes dryer hose. Then there is an adjustable window piece that will fit in a horizontal opening from about 18" and larger. The whole thing can be assembled in less than 5 minutes. All pieces are well made plastic and snap together. I'm not sure how one would use the kit with a vertical window opening. Hope this helps.

**Q: Do you leave the screen in the window? I wonder if the screen will melt?**
A: Hello! I always leave the screen in the window for my unit. I've never had any issues with the window screen melting or warping myself...the unit exhausts a lot of hot air but doesn't appear to be enough to affect the metal of the screen, and in fact I personally think it may be best to leave it in anyway in case bugs might fly in the hose. It also helps to have something extra to anchor the hose attachment in your window. Hope this helps!

**Q: Is there ever any water accumulation that needs to be drained? Or is it always evaporated?**
A: Ours evaporates normally, but when outside is particularly humid, or we've run our house-attached swamp cooler (for whole-house cooling) for an extended period (12+ hours) it can start to fill up the reservoir faster than it evaporates it. We have never had to drain it, yet though. We just hear a dripping coming from the interior of the unit on rare occasions.

**Q: Window attachment.
I was know the window bracket is adjustable from 19.9 to 47.25 inches. I was curious on how wide it is?**
A: In all honesty, I couldn't tell you. The window bracket has an additional sliding part to fit larger windows. But even the base part was too large for my window and I had to cut some of it off. Also the window bracket can be installed vertically for sliding windows.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works As Expected
*by R***E on July 13, 2020*

I bought this room AC for use in the hottest room in my house, which happens to be the master bedroom. The sun sets on all 8 windows in this 450 square foot room with high ceilings so the evening temps in this room is easily 10+ degrees hotter than the rest of the house. Most summer evenings the room temp can reach 82+ degrees F! Enter the Honeywell MN12CES. The Good: It works. It cools the room down from a starting point of 80 degrees down to 69 degrees in about 2-3 hours at the High setting. But remember the room it is in has high ceilings so it needs time to cool it. When it cycles on and off between fan and ac when it is on maintenance mode, that cycling is very quiet. It has been reliable after two summer seasons. It looks good and modern. It is quieter on high setting than a standard size electric fan on high setting. The remote control is really convenient to use from across the room. The Bad: Like all portable AC units, it takes up a lot of room because of that exhaust hose. Not the fault of this AC. It's NOT quiet. No portable AC is. But it is less louder than a standard size fan set on high or medium. It's not cheap to buy. No quality portable AC is cheap. The timer can only turn the unit on. It won't turn itself on because the AC has no clock. Anyone considering any portable room AC must know the square footage of their room so they can match the right size AC. Also, it's important to give the AC time to cool the room. Don't wait until it's so hot inside the room before turning it on. Close all doors to the room, including closet doors and/or bathroom doors, and cover all windows to darken the room. Use the lowest setting on the AC unit if possible to slowly cool the room. I learned all this quickly using the Honeywell unit. It's not a miracle worker nor is it perfect. But just following the above steps ensures you will have a cool room any time all the time. I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone. My only wish is that this unit have a real timer that can turn itself on. The timer is only for turning off.
