My sensors have been outside ever since the day they came out of the box. Zero problems from any of the 5 sensors I have in use. I change out the batteries in each sensor twice a year to ensure that I avoid problems. So I know that the batteries are good for 6 months or more. CAUTION....PLACEMENT OF SENSORS IS CRUCIAL FOR THIS PRODUCT TO BE A USEFUL TOOL IN HOME SECURITY! It will take a bit of trial and error as the sensors are highly...well...sensitive! Be patient and they will become a valuable part of your security system. **Q: Where can I purchase the AC adapter for the receiver?** A: I bought a Gemini universal adapter years ago. **Q: Is it waterproof?** A: Yes the transmitter I use is outdoors in the rain too. **Q: How loud is the alarm mode?** A: The receiver has an "alarm" mode and a "ding dong" mode. It is also equipped with another switch that controls the pitch of the setting you choose. These options are loud, normal, and silent. Silent mode causes the light to flash only. NO MATTER WHICH SETTING YOU PREFER, I GARAUNTEE IT TO BE LOUD ENOUGH THAT IT WILL NOT BE PLEASENT ON THE EARS! Excluding silent mode obviously. And because of its range and expandable features, you can place a receiver on your night stand.
