The light didn't turn red or appeared to be a battery charge issue. Speaker would just turn off randomly, even while plugged in to AC power. Finally, the speaker would not turn on, no lights, no anything. It would make the beep noise when plugging in AC power and disconnecting, but no other signs of life. I was unable to do the reset procedure or get the speaker to do anything. Rather than throwing the out of warranty speaker away as my wife suggested, I figured I would take a gamble and try a new battery. Glad I did! Battery replacement took less than 10 minutes and this even came with a screwdriver to do it. Super easy. Speaker immediately came back to life and works great. Battery takes a charge and appears to be lasting longer than when it was new, although that could be placebo affect. I am very impressed with the ease of installation in my Bose, and that it is so nearly a duplicate of the original. It charged OK, and seems to be working well. I took off one star for the tease of providing me the tool to do the replacement. They did provide a tool, just not the one needed to replace this particular battery.
