Distillation is commonly used to derive essential oils from most plants: flowers, trees, vegetables and nuts. The distillation process involves high temperatures, as well as steam and water or a combination of both. For example, plants are sealed in a specialized still as water and/or steam is forced inside. The pressure squeezes out the oil, which is then condensed and collected. I too, would be interested in why they don’t carry the organic label. Especially items sourced from along the Nile River. I lived near Cairo Egypt for a year, (expatriate) in New Maddi. The Nile is long (flowing South to North- Aswan to Mediterranean Sea). From North to approx 3 hrs south of Cairo, the Nile River is filthy and polluted. It’s water is used to irritate small farms. We were instructed not go into the Nile River, not to consume water laden produce (lettuce etc), soak all vegetables (yes- carrots) in potassium permanganate to avoid illness. The water and fertilizer wasn’t safe. I explored a lot and saw many small farms along trails in and around Cairo and to the south. I’m unsure where along the Nile the small land owners farm (North/Southern portion) to source their carrot seed oil? Without the organic label and grown along Nile on small farms- that’s enough to convince me to look elsewhere. **Q: The description says that this product is 100% pure Argan oil. So which is it? Tamanu or Argan?** A: Tamanu Oil, 100% Certified Organic indeed despite the misleading description. **Q: Does Argan Oil help improve mature sagging skin?** A: I really, really like my Argan oil, my skin is still pretty good; I use the Argan as a preventative. I use Retin A and when I am on it my skin is super sensitive (I use it on and off since you're only supposed to use it for 2 months at a time--read up on it, most doctors won't even tell you this information, but it harms your liver tremendously if you use it for more than 2 months at a time). Anyway, regardless of whether I am on Retin A or not this oil is perfect for my skin. One squirt is enough for my whole face. I usually put a moisturizer on top of it after it's been absorbed (about 5 minutes).I also use this on my body: 1 pump of my lotion + 1 pump of argan oil per each body part and my skin has never been so soft and smooth before.So far I've only used it once in my hair after swimming in a pool at a BBQ. I put a squirt in my hand and ran it through my hair as best I could and focused on my ends. I did that several times and when I shampooed my hair it didn't feel stripped like it usually does after being in a highly chlorinated pool all day.I've also noticed that my cuticles and hangnails are significantly dimished...Usually I have a TON of hangnails that I pick at (gross I know), but since I don't have anymore hangnails there is nothing to pick at, so my hands look great!What can I say...this stuff is amazing!PS--I also purchased a few other brands of argan oil on here and they were all rancid. It also has a dropper lid instead of a pump, which works much better for this thick, creamy oil. I am still using it as a face moisturizer, and while my skin hasn't become perfect, it stays moisturized without adding awful chemicals to my skin, which I can't say for most other moisturizers.**************************************************************************************I've had this tamanu oil for three months now. I got it because I have very sensitive skin and it's natural and organic. The consistency of the oil has always been odd to me. It's oily but also grainy. Since this oil comes in a bottle with a pump, and the graininess clogs the pump, making it ineffective, I'm hoping mine is a fluke. For anyone else who's tried it, was it grainy for you?Using it to moisturize my face after a shower, it leaves tiny bits of the graininess all over my skin, which I have to wipe off once the oil's absorbed in. I don't like that part because it looks dirty and I wonder how much of the oil (& my money) is wasted in clumping/graininess. Still, I really like this oil and am willing to give it another shot to see if the graininess is atypical.Why I love this oil: I cut the tip of my thumb with a mandoline 5 days ago. It was fairly deep and in a slit/"v" shape. Gross, bloody, and painful. I used neosporin on it with a band-aid for the first 3 days (cleaning & changing at least 1x/day) with little change in the size of my cut and left it bare yesterday. Last night, I decided to try a little tamanu oil in place of neosporin. This morning, it looks like either side of the cut has begun growing back together so my thumb doesn't look like it's splitting in half down the middle. I am impressed. That's enough reason for me to buy another bottle once this one runs out.
