Must buy!!! *by on Reviewed in the United States June 22, 2025* Kyoto’s Nishiki Market had a pair of these in a size that wasn’t mine, with the straps made out of icky vinyl, do not touch signs all over, and a grumpy old man pretending to build these slippers - though he left out tell-tale boxes of purchased inventory stacked around the store. He was also giving me a hard time because I touched his slippers. Prices converted to over $68 USD. Luckily I whipped out my phone and found these on Amazon at a fraction of the Japanese pricing, free camel toed socks, and next day delivery so I had to wait until I got home from my trip to buy. Surprisingly comfortable. Also bought another pair from another vendor in a shiny black lacquer but am returning those as those are made of plastic with a vinyl wrap along the soles and cheap poly straps listed as cotton. These are wooden with decent velvet straps and look and feel much more authentic. Hope to mop the floor with these and not leave footprints. Was initially concerned that I’d fall on my face but they feel much more solid than I imagined.
