Now having two 22mo old geldings that I took on as orphan foals at 2wks of age, I've been doing tons of in-hand work on basics, obstacles, little trails, etc. This pair of books ("101..." plus the illustrated hardback text that is paired with it)is perfect for me/us right now. Because I've never done much longeing, and nothing with side-reins, surcingles, cavessons, long lines, etc, the detailed instruction on minutiae of how to hold or fasten things, and alternative types of tack, was particularly useful. The graded exercises started with 10-12 things we had gotten quite proficient at in-hand (eg, head down, whoa & stand, turn on forehand, sidepass), but quickly moved on to things I've never done, and my "boys" certainly haven't.
