It actually moves more air than I expected. The fan blade is well balanced, and it turns very smoothly. It spins up somewhat slowly and then whirs at a high speed. It's somewhat noisy, maybe like a few old-style tower-type CPUs running side-by-side. However, you get a LOT of air movement for that noise. I have added a dimmer to the cord to throttle the thing down a bit. However, the buyer should be aware that a dimmer doesn't work very well on it. It will slow the fan to about half speed at 90% "on," and at about 75% "on," it won't run the fan at all. I think others have suggested a PCM module to control fan speed, but I'm OK with the dimmer for my purposes. In parallel with the dimmer, I wired the relay of a thermostatic controller. So when my equipment first comes alive, the fan runs at half speed on the dimmer. If the cabinet temperature exceeds a threshold, then the relay closes, and the fan runs at full speed. Came with mounting hardware and two sets of grills for the front and back. It is noisy but not more then the dB level listed by the manufacturer. Any thing that small (6 inches), blowing that volume of air, is going to be noisy.
