Click the button on the side in to open the light and then fit it around the pole and it fits perfectly snug and doesn’t slip or slide down. To remove simply click in again and it clicks open. It does state in the description it should be removed when raining so I presume it is not waterproof, but the umbrella would be up when it’s in use anyway so doesn’t really make much difference.It can be turned on 2 ways either on the light itself or the remote that controls the various modes. This is where the fun comes in (for the kids – who love the “novelty” of different colours (16 multi colours) that flash and dim etc, personally I prefer just the plain warm white.The fault I see overall is that it doesn’t charge with a USB but instead takes x 6 AA batteries which are not included, and this is my main concern. Initially, I inserted “no brand cheapies” and although the light switched on it wasn’t bright enough as it got darker to see our cards clearly. So, we lowered the light down on the pole closer to the table and it worked better but still not as expected and as displayed in the description photos of bright light over the table! I considered that the batteries were possibly not powerful enough so used our good brand rechargeable batteries and there was a clear difference in the display of lighting. So, you must use decent batteries.Usually, if we’re going to sit outside and play games it is in the Summer (which already has long light hours), so how much we are really going to use this remains to be seen.
