There were a lot of mixed reviews, but I decided to see for myself and gave it a try. This is my conclusion: the crystals are real...but they're not as they appear. Specifically the citrine. What I got was real crystal, but it's likely heat treated amethyst. Real citrine isn't that common to find, anyway, let alone on Amazon. Genuine citrine has a natural tone more in line with a smoky quartz, but with more of an olive tone. IF it were any true form of citrine, the closest thing would be candle quartz. But in my honest opinion it is just heated amethyst and I say that because of the distinct orange ends that some (not all) of the pieces have. Let's keep in mind, though, citrine IS aged amethyst, this is just not naturally aged to be considered "authentic".I'm not mad at it, it's pretty much what I expected simply based on the pictures, and they're pretty. No bubbling like you'd see with glass, fracturing within the stones that refract light and give that classic crystal characteristic.
