I don't think any of these style of cushions are particularly useful on softer seating, like sofas, as you need some resistance in order for the memory foam to shape itself. Looked at many in the build up to the purchase, and certainly have no regrets with this purchase. I've had a bad back on and off for years but it has flared up recently and it makes sitting on firmer chairs much more comfortable. The foam also isn't so soft that it looses the spring back and support needed which can be the case with some items like this.

I suffer from herniated discs and sciatic pain and have found this cushion useful when driving. It does tend to shift a little bit and needs realigning for comfort occasionally. I bought this for a long haul flight, as this is when my pain is worse, and I'm yet to fly so I can't yet tell you how it stands up to 16hrs in economy class. It comes in a useful carrier but is too solid to fold up inside hand luggage, which I suppose is a good thing. I doesn't cause heat and sweat issues either, which is a problem for 100% memory foam products. This may change when I get back to my desk in the tropics!
