Installation was easy. The biggest challenge was getting a vacuum pump good enough to reach 500 microns. 500 microns is 29.90 inHg (inches of mercury) vacuum. I am a electrician so I also wired it and am experienced with flaring lines if you cut them shorter. Note: There is minimum length and lines should be leaked tested. I vacuumed the lines and let it sit overnight and checked to see if it held the vacuum. the manual says to squirt leak detect to look for leaks. this does not work on a vacuum. you could contaminate the lines. Also when putting flair fittings together, no lube is required and in my opinion is a waste of money. The A/C works GREAT so, far for 2 weeks. Very cold! Extremely quiet! Looks VERY NICE! Also is it pre-charged?** A: Not only does vacuum have to be pulled but it needs to hold that negative pressure for 8-12 hours. I have installed 5 of these units, I purchased a vacuum pump and all gauges. I had a local hvac guy help on the first one and I had learned more (online research) than he knew about these units. First off the local guys do not want to install these especially if they did not sell it to you. When they are installed properly they are really amazing and cost very little to use. **Q: Could average Joe Homeowner hook this up ?** A: Intalled the 12,000 BTW (120vac) unit myself. Eazy Peazy - Installed an outdoor 120vac outlet, used a 10guage 120vac cord on the outdoor unit. Rented a vaccum pump for pennies. Installation was flawless. I'll be installing more of these soon. Don't let anyone tell you this can't be DIY. Plenty of installation videos for Mini Split HVAC systems on Utube University - Watched a couple, and it made the actual install much faster with no problems. **Q: Can I connect a thermostat to this unit instead of the remote?** A: So if you lose the remote you can still adjust the unit. Somepeople like the thermostat on the wall. **Q: Is this 24000BTU model able to cool 2beds room condo, total 1200sqf? thinking to install it in the main living room.** A: So it really depends on your configuration of your condo. Listen 24,000 btus is allot of cooling power. You could always use a cheap $10 wallmart floor fan to push cool air to the back bedrooms....i did just that on another installation of this same unit in a separate house. The recirc system was just for a professional looking install but you can do the same thing with a cheap $10 wallmart fan. I really like these units as they are so efficient and quiet. The air recirc system i designed has nothing to do with this unit as its not wired into it or connected to it at all. All my recirc unit does is a fan register sucking cold air near where the inside blower is installed and it blows the cooled air thorugh the instulated duct crawl space in the roof and blows it back between the bedrooms as the cool air would have to travel from one wall the full length of the living room then hang a right turn in a hllway then another sharp right turn into another hallway then into the most distant bedroom......so thats allot to ask of one ca blower blowing cool air essentially in a U turn . But my recirc system solved that problem handily. by first blowing cooled air inbetween the 2 bedrooms then the air slowly moves the warmed air back into the living room to be cooled by this single unit blower and recirculated again. I wasnt too impressed with the heating capacity of this in the winter as a heat pump as with most heat pumps your essentially air conditioning the outside when its snowing out so there isnt much heat out there then your pulling whatever heat from outside back inside to warm you up so the colder it is outside the more this unit has to work to pump heat inside.......but with that said it works great when the temps outside are like in the 50's and 60's and you just want to take the chill off the air in the mornings. If its in the single digits or low teens outside.....your going to need a jacket in your house just saying or another heat source. I would but again and likely will buy again. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So efficient it dropped the cost to heat and cool my house. *by R***. on January 9, 2021* Trying to get a licensed installer to put this is for a reasonable price was impossible. The people I finally got to do it did a horrible job and the process was a pain. As for the product I have used it in both hot and cold so far. I’m in Colorado and got it done just before winter hit. The cooling part is a game changer. This is in my 4 car garage and I keep it cooled in there for my dogs to come in to their kennel when it’s hot out. I did a bunch to help the efficiency. I noticed this helped keep the house cooler above the garage too. My bill actually went down having this in there. I’m not sure the issue but once it froze over and was dripping water inside. I sent a message to the company that installed it but never heard back. I shut it off for the night and it was dry and fine the next morning. Works fine. The heat is great too. I was worried it wouldn’t keep up with a 2 bay door opening but it does. I keep the garage about 66 and it hardly runs I think. It’s so quiet I really don’t know when it’s on unless I feel it or I’m under it and can hear it. My bill For heat went down too. To keep the house 70 and the garage 66 even snowing and a few single digit days and nights my last bill was $36. The garage is a large 4 car attached and the house is 3000sqft. This is only in the garage but the heating and cooling took a load off of my house furnace and ac because it got rid of the heat and cold under the 2nd level. Both bills went down significantly. I insulated my garage doors and am upgrading the seals. Walls and attic are insulated and drywalled and the dog door is a double flap door. Working in a cooked space in the summer is unreal. It’s also nice to be out in the garage working in shorts and a tank top with 10” of snow on the ground. I loved the feeling so much I have made the garage feel like part of the house. Paint, cabinets, polished and stained concrete floors with led lighting. It feels like I’m working on cars in my kitchen. I love it.
