Very easy to remove the old ones and install the new ones. The new sashes feel a lot stronger, and I feel confident they will outlast the windows because they are metal and not plastic. Over the years the original sashes installed by the window installer degraded most probably from the UV light coming in through the window. These were made of a type of plastic. These metal ones are very strongly made, match the white of our window frames, and were easy to install. If possible, I would suggest to use the original screws from the old sashes. The original screws were of a slightly different thread, and their length was slightly shorter. I did not want to take a chance on degrading the self tap type thread in the frame, and the length of the new screws appeared to be about 1/8 inch longer. In my case I felt safer to use the original screws. I saw in the package there is a diagram showing the dimensions. This would be very handy if making a new installation. From my point of view this is a good quality window sash.
